Go on the ultimate water adventure across three different venues
February 26, 2018
It is always a good time to start getting active. However, if you need a bit of an incentive to kick-start a new exercise routine – or a nudge to push yourself a little further – Singapore Sports Hub has rolled out a fun campaign this March-April season that encourages one and all to “take the plunge” and explore 3 of the water-based venues within the sprawling complex…splash-tastic!
Starting from 10 March, three great bundle deals await, and we’re here to tell you a bit more about them.
Aqua Fitness Class
Make a splash at OCBC Aquatic Centre with our Aqua Fitness classes – low-impact workouts with varying levels of resistance, suited for all ages, and especially for those rehabilitating from injuries.
From a “pool party” Aqua Groove dance workout to a 45 minute high-intensity interval training at an Aqua Tabata class, the options are plenty. Try them out at walk-in rates and you might just find yourself adding a brand new activity to your workout routine!
Kayak 1 Star/ 2 Star Personal Skill Awards
Get on track at Water Sports Centre to earn yourself the Kayak 1 Star/ 2 Star Personal Skill Awards. The two-day, 14-hour course provides an introduction to the sport of kayaking. Participants will be required to show water confidence through a short swim test with the aid of a Personal Floatation Device at the beginning of the proceedings. And once you’ve snagged that star, it’s time to level up.
The Kayak 2 Star Personal Skill Awards is earned once you have gotten the hang of a range of basic strokes and manoeuvres. Besides being trained in more skills as well as rescue techniques, you will also be introduced to the spray cover. Just be sure to bring your sunblock and keep hydrated, as things might get hot out there!
Keen to unleash your inner surfer dude without, say, having to fly to Hawaii or deal with the prospect of sharks? Now you can at the Stingray, Sports Hub’s very own half-pipe surfing facility located at Splash-N-Surf.
Get on board – literally – at one of our Stingray Clinics, where first-timers can learn to surf without assistance and pull off different moves in style! Participants will learn surfboard management, proper positioning on a surfboard and master riding on the boogie board and knee-board. Better still, classes will be modified to fit individual needs.
After a day of hard swimming or pedalling, it’s time to chill out and watch the world go by. Enjoy a relaxing experience as you leisurely cruise along the Lazy River in a comfy float. The Lazy River’s entry fees this promotional season will be waived with any boat rental at the Water Sports Centre.
Find out what boats are available at www.sportshub.com.sg.
Get into the water with this great deal that gives you the run of the Aquatic Centre free with a minimum of one hour’s rental of the Stingray at Splash-N-Surf.
Note: There’s no need to sign up for the Stingray Clinic; just a standard entry will enable you to qualify for this deal.
40 million litres. That’s how much water there is in the impressive competition pool of the OCBC Aquatic Centre. Yet the very first facility in the Singapore Sports Hub to be completed is impressive not just for its capacity. The facility, which has hosted events such as the 28th SEA Games and FINA Swimming World Cup, is truly world-class. Above the azure blue waters of the competition pool is a bulkhead that can be positioned to suit different Field of Play configurations for various sporting events.
Elite athletes train here — and so can you. A 30-day swim pass is available, at a discounted rate for local residents and a special price for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, as well as a flexible eight-visit pass that comes with two free visits.
Those who like to swim laps intensively without having to worry about colliding into children splashing across lanes can even book a lane.
There are more places than one to have a splashing good time at the Singapore Sports Hub.
The popular Splash-N-Surf is a playground for the whole family – the littlest ones can romp around the water play area and kids’ pool which are uniquely designed with whimsical aquatecture suitable for families with young children, while others can ride a wave at the aforementioned Stingray® or drift into ‘the zone’ by relaxing on a float down the Lazy River.
And at the Water Sports Centre, the regatta course built with 110 buoys and approximately 2km of ropes, offers an expansive space for kayaking and canoeing.
Kayak enthusiasts can even get a “5+1 Kayak Pass” to fully explore Kallang Basin, which spans 52 hectares. In fact, the basin is so big that you can fit the entire Singapore Sports Hub (35 hectares) in it! Pedal boats are another fun way to explore the area, and can be rented by one- or two-hour blocks.
